NeatScan To Office Settings Tutorial

Welcome to the NeatScan To Office Settings video tutorial. With NeatScan To Office, there are various options for scanning and saving your documents. You can easily configure these options with the Settings button, which appears on the toolbar in every application.

Ready? Let’s get started with Microsoft Word Settings.

Select the desired format of your scanned document by checking the appropriate radio button in the Document Format area:

  • Choose the Image Only option if you want to scan an image of the document, and do not want to edit the text.
  • Choose the Text Only option if you just want to scan text from a document. With this setting, all images will be ignored.
  • Choose the Full Document option if you want to scan the entire document. NeatScan To Office will capture the text, images, and even the formatting from the entire document.

When scanning a full document, you also have the option of selecting the “Exact Page Size” . This means that the ‘page size’ of the scanned document matches the ‘page size’ of the original document.  In other words, if you scan a legal size document, the scanned document will also be legal size – not the standard 8.5” x 11” size.  Pretty neat!

There may be times when you’ll want to attach a file to a document, and other times when you’ll want to embed a file IN a document.  Before you begin scanning an item, you should decide how you want that item to be saved. To make your selection, simply click the appropriate button in the Save Option section of the screen:

  • Select the Add as Attachment option if you want your scanned documents or images to appear as attachments. For example, you may want to use this option when attaching an item to an email.
  • Select the Embed option to embed text and/or graphics directly into your document.
  • Before scanning, you’ll also select whether you want to scan the document in black and white or in color.
  • Finally, if you're scanning a document directly to a PDF file, you also have the option of scanning that document in black and white or color.
Once you have made your selections, click the OK button.

These settings are now saved as the ‘default’ for this Office application and will automatically be applied the next time you scan a document into this application.

You can quickly see what your current settings are by placing your mouse over the Settings button on the toolbar.

If you want to change these selections, simply click on the Settings button and select different options on the screen. Any option is grayed-out means that the option is unavailable for the Office application you are using at that time.
