Jim Foster, Chief Executive Officer
Jim Foster is the Chief Executive Officer of The Neat Company and serves on the Board of Directors. As CEO, Jim oversees corporate strategy and manages all operating functions of the company including finance, technology, marketing, sales and administration. Jim has over thirty years of experience in computer application software and services, specializing in technology, sales, marketing, and the management of computer software organizations. Prior to joining The Neat Company Jim was a senior executive at several successful software companies. In 2000, Jim was named Sage Software’s Chief Technology Officer for North America operations after spending six years leading their mid-market division. While in that role, he coordinated six company acquisitions and participated in one of the largest mergers in the mid-market accounting software industry. Prior to its acquisition by Sage Software, Jim was responsible for Product Strategy and Technology at Best Software, where he lead a team that created one of the first robust web-based applications for payroll and human resource processing. Before joining Best Software in 1992, Mr. Foster held several sales and technology management positions with firms such as Dun and Bradstreet Software, Computer Science Corporation, and CompuServe.
Dr. Les Spero, Co-founder and Chairman
Les Spero is the co-founder and Chairman of The Neat Company and serves on the Board of Directors. In 2002, with his son Rafi, Les co-founded The Neat Company with the goal of making it as easy to get information into a computer as it is to print it out. Prior to founding Neat, Les co-founded several successful startups including Reality, Inc., Vintek, Inc. and Intermedia, Inc. In 1981, Les co-founded Strategic Management Group (SMG), a software-based organizational learning company where he grew sales and equity at a yearly compound growth rate of 30%. Les also served as Deputy Director of the Office of Corporate Finance and Special Projects for the U.S. Treasury Department and is a board member of the Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board. Les earned a Ph.D. from Harvard Business School, and he holds an MBA from Washington University, and B.A. from Yeshiva University.
Rafi Spero, Co-founder and Executive Vice President
Rafi Spero is the co-founder and Executive Vice President of The Neat Company and is a member of the Board of Directors. In 2002, Rafi co-founded the company with his father Les, with the initial idea of streamlining the paper-intensive and time-consuming expense report process. During the initial commercialization phase, the concept grew into a much broader vision – the ability to help end users transform any kind of paper into digital information. Rafi has managed and led every business function in the company and is currently General Manager of the SMB division where he oversees strategy, business development, software licensing and technology. Before starting NeatReceipts, Rafi was a manager at Bearing Point, formerly KPMG consulting, where he gained experience integrating and designing enterprise resource planning systems for Fortune 1000 companies. Rafi began his career as product designer and project manager of business simulations software at Strategic Management Group in the e-learning group. Rafi earned a bachelors degree from Yeshiva University.
Tonya Zweier, Chief Financial Officer
Tonya Zweier is The Neat Company’s Chief Financial Officer and reports to Neat’s CEO. Tonya is responsible for all financial and administrative matters for Neat. She leverages more than seventeen years of strategic, financial and operational experience and has had responsibility for accounting, tax, treasury, information management and strategic planning over those years. Prior to joining Neat, Tonya held a number of financial and operating roles in both venture-backed and publicly traded companies, including Acsis, Inc., a software solutions provider, and Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., a company that provides growth capital to life science and technology companies. Tonya started her career at KPMG in the technology practice. Tonya graduated from York College with a B.A. in Accounting.
Jeff Burk, Executive Vice President, Software Development
Jeff is responsible for The Neat Company’s product development, software engineering and technology infrastructure. He works closely with senior management and the development team in an effort to build solutions that transform paper into digital information. Prior to joining Neat, Jeff spent over 15 years in product and software development across a broad range of industries including technology, media, and consumer products. He has held senior technical positions with a variety companies, including Narrative Communication, Salesnet, Excite@Home, StarCite and Monster Worldwide (Monster.com). Jeff earned a B.S. in Information Technology from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, MA. Jeff is an active member of the Scrum Alliance and is a leader in successfully implementing agile development techniques, such as Scrum and Extreme Programming (XP), and driving cultural change in organizations.
Harris Romanoff, Executive Vice President, Engineering
Harris Romanoff is The Neat Company’s Executive Vice President of Engineering and reports to Neat’s CEO. Harris is responsible for new technology, including software and hardware development. He leads the SPI (Scanning, Parsing & Imaging) team in designing and developing the underlying technologies that power Neat’s breakthrough products. Prior to joining Neat, Harris was a Lead Software Engineer and Business Simulation Modeler at Strategic Management Group (SMG) and an Electrical Engineer at Ballinger, the country’s oldest architecture and engineering firm. Harris earned a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently pursuing a M.S.E. in Integrated Product Design from the University of Pennsylvania (an interdisciplinary program of the School of Engineering, the School of Design and Wharton). As a hobby, Harris organizes MakePhilly, a casual forum for creative individuals in the Philadelphia area to exchange ideas, learn and build together.
Kevin Garton, Chief Marketing Officer
Kevin Garton is The Neat Company’s Chief Marketing Officer and reports to Neat’s CEO. Kevin is responsible for brand strategy, product marketing and customer support. He leads the effort to communicate The Neat Company’s value in the marketplace by showcasing the company’s ability to transform paper into digital information. Prior to joining Neat, Kevin spent over 20 years in marketing and brand development across a broad range of industries including technology, media and consumer products. He has experience growing both established and emerging brands and has led marketing teams at ThinkFun, AOL, comScore, Microstrategy and Levi Straus. Kevin earned a B.A. in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, and he holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
Jeff Thomas, Vice President, Corporate Sales
Jeff Thomas is Vice President of The Neat Company’s Corporate Solutions division. Jeff is responsible for sales and business development of the corporate, VAR and licensing groups. Jeff joined Neat in 2005 and has worked in sales, infrastructure and kiosk roles. Prior to joining Neat, Jeff spent 15 years in technology and sales related positions in a variety of well established and start-up companies. Most recently, Jeff was the Director of Channel Programs at TurnTide, a startup acquired by Symantec 5 months after it was founded. Jeff has also worked for Apple Computer, Gateway and Cigna in both Sales and Information Technology roles. Jeff graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Business.
Mark A. Gollin, Vice President, Mac Development
Mark Gollin leads the Mac platform development team. He is responsible for planning, design and implementation of Mac platform products. Mark has been in software development for 30 years, including stints at Microsoft, Expedia, Random House and Harcourt Brace. He's been a leader on the development team for more than a dozen commercial and educational software releases, including Microsoft Project (Windows and Mac), Microsoft Outlook, Expedia, and most recently NeatReceipts for Mac 1.0. Mark has a B.A. in Psychology (Human Computer Interaction) from Columbia University in New York City.
