Yes this is a problem for myself as well. There are other post in this forum stating this problem. I haven't seen a solution yet. I have just turned a blind eye on this, hoping the developers at Neat are working on a solution.

I use the Neatworks for Mac 2.1.4 with Neat ADF scanner, mainly for scanning documents to email or efax. A one page document scanned directly to PDF at the 'lowest export quality' per the preference setting returns with 400KB!!! It was still >250KB after compressing the file.
