By reading the Windows help documentation, I got the impression that "category" is a description of the receipt vendor not the type of expense. So Wal-mart would be 'general retail". Sunoco would be 'gas' etc. What mystifies me, like you guys, is how to identify the expenses such as "Christmas 2008" or ...
