Ah, so they did update processor compatibility. :)
But I still do not like the idea of using the compact version which was degned for Mobile devices & desktops.
I want a more Robust solution, such as being able to go beyond the 4 GB database size. 2008 Standard Edition fits this need.

Yes, please make 5.0 configurable.
User configurable scan setting, pdf or otherwise would be great.
As for your saying that the vast majority would prefer SQL Express, Personally, I would prefer SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition which has a big difference in database size limit. I run a 64-bit system and the Standard Edition lets you go beyond ...

If this is what you are expecting us to use,
SQL Server Compact 3.5 then I'm not interested in it.
What I am interested in is having the Neat Works installation software ask me if there is a currently installed SQL Server I would like to use and to give me the option to use the installed SQL Server.
One of the reasons for this is I am ...

Careful what you ask for.
Us users do not have any access to the PDF scan settings and we're at the mercy of the programmers.
I do a lot of scanning both in B&W and Color. In Service Pack 2 and earlier, the PDF's came out just fine in the way of color reproduction and otherwise.
But with the release of Service Pack 3, the PDF ...

Using Scan to PDF, in SP2 (v4.5.2 Build 182) and earlier versions, the PDF document quality was excellent.
But since I upgraded to SP3 (v4.6.2 Build 152) The document quality has suffered.
I notice that the PDF file size is half that of what it used to be and it seems that the White Balance is set way too high. Even the text isn't as ...

Ok, several things I found out using NeatWorks in XPM.
The NeatDesk scanner won't work using XPM cause it won't be loaded in the virtual environment. If you need to use the scanner, then you need to open the Virtual environment instead of just running the application. Then using the Virtual-PC menu bar at the top of the window, you ...

Was busy most of the day with other stuff around the house, so I didn't get to mess around with using NeatWorks in XP Mode much.
I did find out a little somethingIf you run NeatWorks in XPM and try to restore the backup from your system drive, it won't work. It'll just sit there all day trying to import the backup.
BUT.... if you ...

Everything installed just fine using NeatWorks v4.0.8_136
After I finished the install, I connected my NeatDesk scanner to my Windows 7 system and turned it on. Then in the Virtual-PC window, XP detected the scanner and installed the drivers.
After this, I ran Windows Update to install the SQL Server 2005 SP3 update along with any others which ...

If your system is up to specs, you can use Windows XP Mode.
Go Here to the Windows Virtual-PC page. You'll want to download the Virtual-PC beta and XP Mode beta then install the Virtual-PC first, then XP Mode.
XP Mode contains a complete virtual image of Windows XP including Windows XP license.
Once you finish the install, you'll need ...

The Neat Desk scanner can easily be used for what you described.
Once you have the NeatWorks program installed you can either use the PDF button on the scanner or using the QuickScan tool, you manually select single or double sided and color or B&W, then click the PDF button on the QuickScan tool.
For each scan, it'll ask you for the ...
