    restore without backup?

    Hello,

I had a total computer failure (vista 32 bit laptop) and am unable to boot from that computer's old hard disk which has all my neat receipts data.

I have a backup, but lost about two weeks worth of scanning work since the prior backup.

Is there any way to get that lost data back?

My new computer is running vista 64 and I have upgraded to version 4.0 of NeatWorks.

I still have the old hard disk and I can see all the neat receipts program files in there, is there anyway to recover the data from them?

     Thank you for any info

To be honest Larson, I don't know a ton about data recovery. I know if you need it badly, you can always get a company to get the data for you. It may cost you a little bit of cash, but if you would like those receipts back, simply try taking it to a local data recovery pro. they'll know if you can get it off safely for sure.

    Re: restore without backup?

    Thanks Randy,

Actually, I can see the all the Neat Receipts data on the old hard disk no problem, the problem is I can't boot off that disk to run the old version of neat Receipts to make a backup of the last two weeks of data.

I'm wondering if I can do something like "Fast find->Find all Receipt Folders" and point it to the old installation of Neat Receipts 3.0 on the old hard drive.  Something like that.

    Thank you -Julie

    Re: restore without backup?

    To be more specific:

My last backup was on October 17, 2009.  Since then I did a lot of scanning before my machine died.

In the NeatReceipts Professional folder under Program Data, there are some folders:  idx, logs and config which show activity as late as October 29, 2009.  Under the idx folder there are a group of recent files: _fql.cfs, deletable, segments, _fpw.cfs, _fp9.del, _fp9.cfs, _fjf.del, _fo1.cfs, _fjf.cfs.  One of these files, _fjf.cfs is 2 MB large, possibly contains my missing data?

If there are any tools or methods for retrieving the lost data, I would be deeply grateful.

    Thanks for any info

Through reading other forum messages, I've managed to deduce that my missing data is sitting in the old sql server database files on the old hard disk
