My brand new neat receipts doesn't do a very good job parsing receipts. It gets the vendor right, most of the time, and the date and type of payment, but it almost always misses the amount. It sometime takes the first amount shown, sometimes the tax amount, sometimes no amount. Am I doing something wrong? I'd love it to work for me, but it this is as good as it gets, then I'm going to have to return it.

I'm actually impressed at how good a guess the OCR makes for the most part. However, you are spot on that

it misses the basic info a lot of the time. It MAY be that over time, as you get receipts from the same vendor

there MAY be some learning happening once the database begins to acquire more data, but I'm not holding

my breath on this. It's a nifty portable scanner, and it saves a step or two here and there, but I fear I will end

up with a very expensive portable scanner, paste my receipts to 8-1/2 x 11 paper, scan it to pdfs and keep

filling out my form manually. Sigh...
