    Neat Receipts for a Mac - photos

    I purchased the Neat Receipts scanner for my business which is now closed. I am looking for a portable scanner to scan photos.  Can anyone tell me if this scanner will scan photos?

     Also I assume the hardware is platform independent? Can I just download the software for my mac?
