Deleting Unused Receipt Fields

    Deleting Unused Receipt Fields

    How do I get rid of all of the receipt fields like "transaction ID" ; "GST/HST" etc. that I don't want or need?

    I went through the drill of clicking on the little triangles to get the "master list" but everything is grayed out so I can't deselect. Then if I go to the master fields list and then to create or modify fields i go through the drill...and nothing happens!!!  What gives?

    Any ideas how to customize the fields 'cause the intuitive path ain't working.

    I don't want to delete them as much as hide them in area to the right of the thumbnail. What do I care about sales tax, GST or PST. I live in a state that has none of these. I use NeatWorks for my personal finances, so there is no transaction, project or client. So let me hide these fields and enter my data more quickly.

    Also I want to be able to have certain ones appear in this area like group when I am in Contacts. I am in the process of entering all my business cards. I classify them by type of work, or what career I was in at the time, or where or when I met the person.

    I too find it frustrating that there is not a way to add and/or delete the fields that are grayed out, they are just always there in the way. I have created custom fields but I have to go activate it for each and every receipt. Seems that their is no way to add it to the master list permanently just as there is not a way to delete those that are unnecessary. I also can't find good support to tell me what GST and PST are all about, anyone know? I like the check off boxes, but there too I can't find an way to add more check off boxes.

    I third it. The undeletable default fields take up valuable real estate and make everything take longer.

    PST/GST are Canadian sales taxes. Now why Neatco would make these required fields that cannot be deselected for a product that is marketed primarily in the US is well, well beyond me.

     

    However even worse is that all of these fields also print on the expense report - which is the ONLY reason I have this product. I don't need to report to my US employer on US travel fields related to Canadian taxes. Much less all those other fields. I would also like to be able to deselect those just as it APPEARS you should be able to do when you click on that field box at the top. To make it even worse the ONE field I need most is the notes field, and I cannot get that to print with any consistency. You cannot delete them, and changing the field name in the options box doesn't actually do anything related to changing it either on the entry screen or the printed report - again makes no sense.

     

    All this means I must continue to start VMWare to run the Windows version to do the one task the a product called Neat Receipts should be able to do out of the box.

    I am having the exact same issue so I came here to see if I was alone. I cannot modify or delet any fields. Under the edit menu there is a "Create or Modify Fields" command but it does nothing. When you select a field from the list to delete it, you get a confirmation window to be sure you want to delete it. If you click yes to delete, nothing happens. This is extremely annoying since a majority of the fields are of no use to me. I also don't want having all these empty fields in my expense report. My notes in my expense reports are mostly truncated, showing the first 3 words I have typed in the notes box then .... What's the point of having a notes field if they are hidden in the expense report? I really hope there is an update soon with these fixes.

    add me to the list -- i found an area to delete the fields got a stern warning it was permanent - ok'd it - and their still there !

    This feature is part of Neatworks 4.0...

    Right click on the thin tan bar that says " Vendor, Ammount, Sales Tax, GST, etc"  and just uncheck any fields you do not want to see.

    If I'm not mistaken, 4.0 is the PC version.  We are all talking about the mac version.  This feature is not available to us, as verified by Neatco in an email I got from them.  Ridiculous to not be able to modify, especially as the options are there, they just don't DO anything!
