4.0 Incompatible with my Neatreceipts scanner!

    4.0 Incompatible with my Neatreceipts scanner!

    I sent NR an email: Will the old NR
    hardware run just as fast as the new white portable with 4.0?

     The response from "Roy": "The old and new hardware are equal in performance."

    So I pick up an older unit. And when I go to buy the 4.0 upgrade, they spring THIS on me!

    "This software is only compatible with version 2.1 and higher."

    WHAT??? So they lied to me. 4.0 is NOT compatible with all the old hardware. Only some of it. Thanks for nothing. The old and new hardware are NOT equal in performance. There is some intermediate hardware that is compatible, but not ALL their scanner hardware. I can not believe there is nothing on this site that spells this out, and even when you ask them directly, they BS you! Now I'm stuck with USELESS hardware, all because they lied to me about their old hardware being compatible. Great company.

    Oh, so now I find buried deep in the database that there is something called NR "PROFESSIONAL" and if you don't have that you're completely screwed. But no, Roy didn't think to mention that--just that the "old and new hardware are equal in performance." And he implies the "old" hardware will run 4.0 just fine. He neglected to mention one tiny point: THERE ARE 3 REVS OF THE HARDWARE, NOT "OLD" AND "NEW". And rev 1 has been abandoned development-wise. Thanks for telling me, numb brains. Now I have an expensive doorstop courtesy of the tech support dept.

    I think there is a mis-communication somewhere, because I have both the old scanner and the new scanner and Version 4 works great with both. (I travel with the new one, and the old, silver scanner is permanently on my desk.)

    I have been using Neat Reciepts for more than 2 years, starting with version 2.1, so I think your problem is something else.

    Customer service doesn't get much better than this, does it?  It impresses me to see an employee and company care enough to reach out to right a perceived wrong and take ownership of the communication process.

     

    I'm a relatively new user of NeatReceipts.  I bought 3.0 back whenever, and then when the upgrade happened to 4.0, I sprung for it.  There are some things that I don't like (such as lack of extensibility on the fields for the "Review + File Receipt" dialog box).  But all in all, this is a nice application.

    I just installed a new NEAT scanner (has 2 buttons on top) that came with version 3 software.  It started scanning and then crashed my system twice.  I went on the website and upgraded to 4.0.  After installing 4.0, it gives me an error when I go to scan.  It says The Neat Mobile Scanner Failed.

    I uninstalled everything and reinstalled version 3 and the scanner works, then I upgraded again and it does the same thing!  Can you please tell me what to do .

    What OS version do you have?  When you purchased the NeatWorks 4.0 upgrade was the file you downloaded the latest version 4.0.8?  Have you tried running NW 4 in admin mode?

    I am running XP and I downloaded the r.0.8 version.  I uninstalled everything, erased all mentions of NEAT in the registry and tried reinstalling it and had the same results.

    I am trying to install Neatworks 4.0 2 button mobile scanner on my HP Pavilion Laptop running XP Professional Service Pack 3.  The computer briefly recognizes the scanner with "New hardware found"  then immediately says " a problem has occurred during installation" and the scanner disappears from the system tray and a yellow asterisk appears in device manager.  I have reinstalled many times after deleting every Neatworks file I could locate.  Still can't find the scanner.
