While it might be true that I can export/import receipts from NR to Quicken, the point is it takes me more time than just plugging away the old fashioned way....manually. I am moderately computer savvy at best and found the instructions in the NR User Guide to be less than helpful. I've spent the morning reading though all the Quicken forum entries and find I am not alone in my frustration. I had my new NR packaged to return to Costco when I found it could not be loaded onto my computer due to Vista 64 bit. Just to please my husband, I checked the NR website and found the problem had already been solved. So, I unpacked the NR and loaded it. Oh my gosh, what a dream. Scan, scan, scan...I had pictures in my head of scanning in all my receipts from years past but thankfully I scanned in 15 receipts and decided I better work on transferring them to Quicken. Now after reading though the Quicken forum post, downloading the Excel Mapping that Scooby was nice enough to share, I have decided that the NR is not providing me the solution I had envisioned. Please send me an email or notice if NR and Quicken come together and find a solution but for now I will be taking my NR back to Costco for a refund.

Exporting OFX to Quicken

We where impressed with your scanner, OCR and quality of
graphic record. It came when we where cleaning up 4 years of taxes and
had hundreds of receipts to enter. We work many hours for little pay and
time for entry is quite a hit and we could not hire someone for this, so your
solution was our solution. We thought.

The problem started when we went to send the many
weeks of work with 4 years of receipts into Quicken and found there was no way
of actually doing that. My wife is beside herself with worry, and at the
direction of a Quicken support person, started entering recipes manually,
again. Here is our note received last night from Quicken Support;

************************************

Thank you for your e-mail
and your support for Quicken products.

As per my understanding of your issue, you wish to import your information from
NeatReceipts.

I would like to inform you that, in Quicken Online, we would not be able to
import the data files from NeatReceipts. This option is not yet present. The
OFX (Open Financial Exchange) file format is for you to download online
transactions from the bank and is used by the bank only. We cannot convert any
other data file to OFX, it is used by the bank's only.

In this case, you need to manually enter the receipts

We have 4 years of scanned receipts from Neat Receipts, we
need to import into Quicken 2007. QIF exports date, amount, name, but without
categories and other needed data.

We are told OFX is supported, but see no way of importing
into Quicken2007 (updated).

We have been using quicken for over 15 years. The selling
point for Neat Receipts was the export to Quicken. We see the Microsoft Money
importer that is OFX but that does not work.

Can you direct us to information on how to import OFX (we
have made from Neat Receipts SP3)into Quicken2007?

We did take the "training Neat Recipts"
instruction and did, we think, get it into a test folder in quicken, but no
categories or needed accompanying data. We tried importing in a Quicken file to
a folder in Neat, but we cannot find any categorical list. We are at a stand
still at this point, starting manual input, now questioning the practical of a
Neat Receipts solution at all.

We could not find any information in the forums or help
files. Thank you for any help or reference for this.

Q: Are you working on an exporter, otherwise parsing the
data to Quicken supported formats?

Any help will save my life here.

GMM

will allow transactions to be added to account types that are not
normally available through .QIF imports.

In order to use the Quicken export in NeatWorks to its fullest
potential, you must "teach" NeatWorks about your Quicken accounts.
The easiest way to do that is to generate a .QIF file from your copy of
Quicken, and make sure it includes an account list. Import that .QIF
file into NeatWorks using the File -> Import menu, and you'll be
able to display a list of your Quicken accounts inside the NeatWorks
software.

After you have imported those Quicken accounts, you may use the
export option inside NeatWorks, and choose a destination account for
your transactions inside Quicken. This will create a modified version
of our standard .QIF output, which will allow you to bring transactions
into checking, credit card or savings accounts. When you import this
.QIF into Quicken, select the "All Accounts" option during the import
process - the .QIF file will tell Quicken where to put the transactions
without any work on your part.
