Pasting/Dragging copy into the "notes" form field is broken

Pasting or dragging single and/or multiple lines of OCR text into the 'notes' form field is 'broken'.

When I select a line of OCR text and either drag or copy/paste into any other form field it comes in using a legible/default font - looks like lucida grande.

When I copy and paste and/or drag a single or multiple lines of text (from a document/receipt or business card) into the 'notes' form field the text comes in using the 'monaco' font. Sometimes it's completely illegible (7-8 pts and aliased) or sometimes it comes in in 2 font sizes of monaco?

I then have to select the text in this 'notes' area and re-format it so it is legible and consistent.

Can you please fix this?

Please, as your GUI and built-in help indicate - please make the fields customizable. This feature is currently broken on the mac.

Folders within Collections

I would like to see, above all, is the ability to add sub-folders to collections - exactly like the implementation in Mariner's Paperless. Having only one level of folder results in a huige list of collections with many documents to sift through in each bin.

Why limit the paper length on a mobile scanner?

I would like to propose a feature where one could scan in papers of arbitrarily length with the portable scanner. In research, paper charts are sometimes still used and cutting them is not allowed. I could scan on a flatbed over and over again and then merge, but it seems like the mobile scanner would be the PERFECT device for scanning them in their entirety. I tried this already with my Neat scanner. Unfortunately, after the max paper length the scanner advances the paper for awhile without scanning before allowing me to do another scan. While I could pullback the paper and then continue scanning my bet is that this would damage the scanner.

I propose having the following solution:

1. A toggle where you indicate that the paper is longer than the max length.

2. If activated, the scanner scans until the end of paper is found.

3. The scan is either one uber large file or the program dices up the complete scan into a number of pages.

I think this would be a great feature to implement and see no reason--given the space of modern hard drives and large amounts of RAM--why the hardware or software could not solve this problem.

I would happily beta-test as I have around 20 lengthy chart recordings that need to be digitized ASAP. :-)

Can't print document from Inspector window

When in the Inspector window, if one of the fields has the focus then the document cannot be printed. You have to click on the document image before printing will work.

And the support staff replieswith this…

After the Doc is scanned you can export it as a PDF and then print from the PDF.

Which leaves me with twoquestions:

1. Didthey read all three sentences of my bug report?

2. Do theyknow that you don’t have to export to PDF in order to print a document?

Please, please, please give us the ability to modify the lists within each category (like you can in the windows version). The current autosave of any new entry to the list is nice but it captures mistakes and items (such as vendor names) that may never be used again! I've found the auto-recognition of names does not work nearly as well as my Windows version and I'm wondering of allowing us to edit and reduce our list size would help. Would also like the ability to modify what default category should appear when a vendor is selected. It doesn't seem to currently modify itself to the category most often chose by the user when selecting a specific vendor (especially if Neat predetermined a category).

Please let me know if this is on your roadmap and when we might expect to see it.

Input Problem

I am working on a german OS X. Anytime I enter an amount with decimals it gets automatically multiplied by 100 (comma moves two characters to the right).

I enter: 13,51 and get € 1.351,00

Then I go to the right location for the comma and enter it a second time: € 1.3,51,00

After the field loses focus, the right number is presented: € 13,51

This is of course a real problem for data entry.

iPhone app

There are several iphone apps that basically turn the iphone into a pdf scanner already, JotNot for example. I put in a strong vote for Neat Works developing an iphone app (30 million users!) which would allow the user to take a quick pic and then convert the OCR either syncing with a laptop/desktop or possibly on the iphone itself? It would mean that iphone users would not need to carry around a portable scanner. Neat Works may not like that as they want to sell their scanners but as time and time again the process has shown that you either get ahead and innovate or get left behind. Somebody else will create the perfect pdf scanner app for iphone (maybe already have) and neat works will be left behind. Recommend an iphone app ASAP!

Overseas receipts

It would be great if there would be a converter from Euros to $s on each receipt entry. I could then have a total in dollars for the report.

Hi Neat!

When are you going to support MYOB software?

It's the number one accounting software for MAC users and is much much more MAC friendly than QUICKBOOKS!

My accountant has recommended it for years and I just bought your scanner and software after reading Pogue's article in the NYT but was deflated to learn you don't have any easy export option for MYOB software....

Can you guys build compatibility easily for this?

File sizes

The PDFs coming out of the NeatWorks for Mac are huge. However, the PDFs generated by my ScanSnap are less than a third of this size. I know this because ScanSnap stores them into a folder and NeatWorks then pulls it from there - without the option of deleting them after!

Anyway, the only thing that NeatWorks should be adding is the OCR text - so why the massive bloating??? Yet another flaw.

Hot swappable scanner driver

I bought NeatReceipts for Mac with the Mobile scanner (NR-030108) and think it's a great product, but the biggest problem I have is with the scanner driver. If I don't boot my mac with the scanner plugged in the program won't recognize that it is connected (it sees it in the prefs but says no paper detected if I try to scan from within the program, and no response from pushing the scan button on the scanner). This same problem occurs if I unplug and re-plug the scanner, or put the computer to sleep or switch user accounts, requiring me to restart my mac to use the product.

I'm pretty sure USB is a hot-swappable technology, and that I don't have this issue with any other usb connected peripherals. Please fix this annoying issue.

Really annoying bug (ScanSnap related)

I just bought NeatWorks and it has a lot of promise, but I'm not convinced it's quite baked yet. In the two hours I've been testing, I'm impressed, but running into a lot of bugs and usability issues. This is just the one at the top of my list so far and it's annoying me to no end:

I'm using a ScanSnap scanner. When NeatWorks loads, it checks to see if I have the ScanSnap software configured correctly in "Scan to NeatWorks" profile mode. I think I might prefer to scan to a folder, or scan to Acrobat for OCR and then bring it into NeatWorks (I'm still trying to figure out my workflow) so I'm not in "Scan to NeatWorks" mode on purpose.

But every single time I launch NeatWorks, I get this notice: "Fujitsu ScanSnap software is running, but is not configured to direct scans to NeatWorks." I have a few options at this point: Let NeatWorks automatically configure my ScanSnap software for me, or tell it "Do not check or correct configuration."

I tell it "Do not check or correct configuration." But every single time I launch NeatWorks, I get the same notice and dialogue. It doesn't care that "Do not check..." is selected.

Is there a fix for this? I've uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted preferences, etc. Nothing seems to help. Am I going to get this every time it launches?

Deleting unwanted fields in receipts

This feature is an absolute necessity and should be implemented immediately. As an example, I use the product to track receipts in the US for personal use. I should be able to remove the fields for "client", "business", the other tax fields (for other countries), etc. There is no sense in cluttering up the form with things that have no bearing. We should also be able to move the fields around so that they suit our needs better. Please work on this! Thanks!

Keyboard zoom and window placement

Sor far the product is doing a resonable job for me but there are two things that are killing the idea of moving to paperless with NR.

1. zooming in on a receipt while in "Item View" would be nice - preferably with keyboard shortcut since there is WAY too much licking already

2. since I do have to zoom in on all docs whether in Item View or Inspector it would be nice if NR would remember the magnification

For now, I am going back to the PC version.

Suggestiong: Double Sided Scanning settings should be maintained between sessions

Over the past severa weeks I have been scanning a lot of my old documentation. My Neat Desk has been there every step of the way and I am very happy with the results.

I have one tiny request that would make my life easier. I set my scanning to double sided for most of my scanning. The problem that I have is that you have to reset to double side every time you restart the program or the computer. My suggestion is to have the double side setting be maintained between sessions.

Categories for Documents not wanted

I'm using this product right now to digitize magazine articles into a searchable database. For this purpose I don't want categories for each article. I can't find a way to eliminate the default ones that show up which have no bearing for what I'm doing anyway. I can delete each field but this is very time consuming. Is there a way to tell it not to input any category fields?

Print to function

I think a print to function (print driver), allowing you to print (webpage receipts, email receipts, or any kind of document) directly into Neatworks is needed. I can import PDFs but this makes it a two step process print to PDF (external software required) then import PDF into NeatWorks. If you added a feature to print to NeatWorks it would not only save time and money but also saves disk space because now I have the PDF and I have a copy of the PDF in the database.

Split Transactions on Reciepts

assuming you are planning on supporting the import of receipts into Financial software through csv qif ect ect, it would really be nice to support split transactions on a single receipt. the current split function is terrible as it makes a separate line item for every transaction split. all home and business accounting software that i have seen as well as my bank keeps the transaction together and allows you to split the details of the transaction to the appropriate billing code.

scanning PDF-only documents

The NeatReceipts scanner is very useful for scanning odd-sized documents. Many of these documents have no use in the NeatReceipts program--no money involved--and do not need to be OCR'd.

What I would like to be able to do is:

1. set the default location for pdf scans. Having no way to change the Documents-folder default location for the scanned document is inconvenient; most documents are poorlly placed there.

2. press the PDF button and have the item scanned BUT NOT OCR'd, sent to the default location unless I intervene in the “name file” window.
