Using Smart Collections

I have used NetReceipts (and now NeatWorks) for Mac since it was first available as a product. I am making an effort to use a Smart Collection to flag all unpaid but reimbursable items. So far, I haven't figured out how to do this. I can do one or the other, but not both, and I cannot edit the Smart Collection parameters, either, as far as I can tell.

I'm using Networks Version 2.1.9 (219005). Any help?

Deleting Unused Receipt Fields

How do I get rid of all of the receipt fields like "transaction ID" ; "GST/HST" etc. that I don't want or need?

I went through the drill of clicking on the little triangles to get the "master list" but everything is grayed out so I can't deselect. Then if I go to the master fields list and then to create or modify fields i go through the drill...and nothing happens!!! What gives?

Any ideas how to customize the fields 'cause the intuitive path ain't working.

Making Folders for NeatWorks/Mac

How do you make FOLDERS on the NeatWorks for Mac? Are folders supported the same way they are on the PC software? The tutorial doesn't explain it like on the PC Tutorial. Are they saying that Collections are the equivalent of hierarchal folder system? If so can you make Sub-Collections?

Neat Receipts and S510M Scansnap?

There are several areas talked about in the forums that are niche needs, wanted by a few users.

If NeatCo could enable and document integration with Applescript (or perhaps another - modern - cross-platform scripting language, such as Ruby) we could tackle these issues for ourselves and share solutions with the community.

e.g. I want to trigger a workflow to add someone to Linked In once I've scanned their business card... niche need...

Large File sizes after scanning into Neatworks

Hi, has anyone else got issues with file size of scanned documents produced by the neatworks for Mac 2.1.9. I'm moving from an old canon N670U flatbed that was capable of producing 200dpi images with OCR, a typical document size was under 100k. but I was getting sick of lifting the lid, I've scanned all my documents since 2002 using this scanner and a folder structure, spotlight search and Quickview.

I've recently felt the need to upgrade my scanner and after reading many favourable reviews of the neat receipts software I purchased the Fujitsu ScanSnap S300M,and neatreceipts (primarily for organising and OCR) here are my problems some compatibility issues with the Fujitsu S300m driver and snow leopard the scanSnap has a minimum scan is 300dpi results in slightly larger file sizes and on the Mac offers NO OCR. Upon purchasing Neatworks I thought my problems would go away however the same file (My Council Rates notice) scanned to my desktop directly from the scanner is 266kb when I scan it to Neatworks and perform OCR on it, it comes out at a whopping 1.8mb has Neatworks got a reputation for blowing out the size of scans, at this point in time I don't want to even think about how fast my hardrive will fill using this software

Can anyone give me their insights ?

I have also recently logged a support ticket and will update this post with the result.

Crashes

I recently had to re-install NR, and the company sent me the URL for installation. Did that, and now NR crashes every time I try to open NR from the dock. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.1. Won't even let me check for updates (timed out), and can't send an error report. Tried to contact company, but long phone wait. Anybody know what might be happening? Thank you in advance.

neatworks for mac with a canon MX700

Could someone guide me on using NeatWorks, with my scanner canon MX700

When I hit the scan button on the app, it makes the scanner do/simulate its scanning mechanical function, but no image is displayed in the application..

please help.. neatworks costs a lot of money for it not to be working...

Anyone else having problems with NeatWorks automatically cropping documents?

I've been having a problem when scanning in multiple page documents that it crops the first page of the document to right where the text starts and does not retain the 8 1/2"x11" size of the document. This is a very annoying problem. Anyone else having an issue like this?

NeatDesk Mac hangs

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this new scanner. Double-sided automatically; batches - it's gREAT!!!

Twice, however, in the first hour of use it has 'jammed' - not because there's too much paper - but just jammed for some reason where the next sheet of paper won't feed from the "stack" of 4 or 5 sheets. When this happens, both lights start blinking on the scanner together, and I cannot figure out how to get things working again. The software says "scanning" and I cannot stop the "scan" although no paper is feeding. I must force quit the software, and then when I restart I cannot get the software to recognize the existence of the scanner. My only resort so far is a complete reboot of the computer, which (a) doesn't seem right and (b) is a huge PITA.

Customize Report

Well, I have all my receipts scanned for 2008 and 2009 - What I need to do is to run a report so I can show all the 2008 and sub-total the listing by the categories that are used. When I do a select all for 2008 records and run the report, there is only one total for all. As much as I love this product, the report fuctionality for sure is really weak which is the most important reason to why we are trying to get ourself organized. Any hints would be appreciated.

NeatWorks for Mac slow to open and respond

I'm curious if anyone else's NeatWorks for Mac opens slowly. When I click on the icon it takes probably all of a minute for the window to actually show. Also when I am navigating between the inbox, documents and receipts folders it has a small lag of 10 seconds or so to actually update and show the contents of the folder.

I am running NW on a 1.6 Macbook Air with the 2GB RAM.

If you are not having any lag issues please share what system you are running NW on.

Print to Neatworks via Preview question

Hello all -

Just bought the NeatWorks software are my local Apple store yesterday, and I can't seem to get the Print->PDF->Add to NeatWorks to work properly. I see the document in Neatworks, and when I open it in Inspector it highlights the entries properly, but when I try to drag the entries into the fields on the right, it comes out as gibberish. For example, "Apple Store" drags over as !""#$%&'()$*%+,$%-)(.$

Am I doing something wrong?

Multiple page documents lost

So when I can multiple page documents in all appears fine at first. I use cmd-L to feed in the next page and then eventually I get an error:

"An unspecified error occurred during PDF Processing"

Until this point the scanned documents are added to the collection, but afterward the collection is blank and only shows the last page scanned. This results in all the work up until this point being lost.

If I go in my console log I can see this error:

WARNING TO MAC USER OF NEATWORKS!!

I had been a satisfied Neat Receipts customer and supporter of the company for many years, initially using the PC version of the software. When the Mac version came out, I was offered the beta upgrade as part of the development of the platform for the mac.

Since then I've been very pleased with the continual updates to the program. In it's early stages, it was a pretty bad program, but I stuck with it, and since then it's been vastly improved.

Today, however, I reformatted my hard drive to install the new Snow Leopard. I backed up my library of over $100,000 in receipts, all my tax docs for the past 5 years, etc....When I could not locate the download link to reinstall the software, I went to customer service and provided my registration information and asked for the link to redownload the software. I was told I would purchase brand new software all over again, and that they no longer provided the free upgrade.

So after being a user for about 5 years, going through the upgrade paths offered by Neatco, being a beta tester, and being a staunch supporter of the company and recommending it to numerous people, all of that is irrelevant and Neatco will no longer honor the original upgrade path.

The customer service rep, "Anthony," offered no apologies, no thanks for my long time support...just if you want it, you have to pay us again. I say "again" because as I mentioned, I was an original customer of the PC version and offered the mac version (I assume) because the product was new and they wanted people to get behind it - plus it was buggy as hell and almost unusable in the original state.

I will no longer be a customer of Neatco not even because of the $70, but because of the way this was handled - there was no warning or anything else that if I ever switched my system or lost my hard drive I had to repurchase the software. The customer service rep did NOTHING to treat me as a valuable customer, no apologies, no nothing.

Whether you agree or not with me, I wanted to warn you early adopters (I guess that weren't so cautious as to use time machine?) that if you DO lose your hard drive or wipe your drive, you WILL have to pay for the software again.

As for Neatco, I haven't been this angry with a vendor in a very long time. I will discourage anyone from using this company and their products at any future opportunity.

How do you backup the files ? which folder on my mac do I backup with Backup 3. thanks

Do you really throw away the receipts after you scan them in? is that safe to do for IRS purposes if they ask for them?

Painless way to scan to remote database?

Hello, We currently use NeatWorks to scan our company receipts and docs. Several of our employees access the NeatWorks database remotely, via a locally installed NeatWorks application, the connection we use to the file is the simple Finder 'Connect to Server'. Because NeatWorks is not networkable, we access it one at a time.

The problem is the Neatworks database is huge, it can take 20 minutes to load remotely.

Our solution to this would be to use Remote Desktop to access our server that has the application and database for a quick load. The problem is scanning, Remote Desktop does not connect to a remote scanning device.

Is there any elegant solution to this remote scan problem?

We are hoping that perhaps NeatWorks could load only an index, not load the entire database.

Cannot Modify Fields

I cant seem to remove fields and get it to "stick".

I can change fields, but when I go to remove fields, I get the "do you really want to remove this" screen, confirm, and the old field persists.

Move collection from one library to another library? Is this possible?

My current library is becoming too large. It is over 1.5gb is size and the program is slow to handle the file size. Even though I have 12gb of memory available, it only uses 500mb and is very slow whenever I type data in directly to one of the fields. I plan on splitting up my data into smaller library sets and therefore would like to transfer collections as required. So, does anyone know a procedure to accomplish this?
