Re: How to sync data of 2 diff. scanalizers

I can tell you from the standpoint of someone who does this often, that the recommended method WILL work, but you'll spend a LOT of time drinking coffee while you're massive database exports each and every time you want to do this. I had a client who wanted this same functionality, so I learned a way to do it that's a little faster and WAY more convenient if you're in a hurry and don't require dual-redundant copies of your entire database.

    1. Choose ONE of your computers as the "master" copy of your NR file. I personally chose my desktop for this.
    2. Install BR on both computers. ( I take the scanner back and forth from the 2 pc's cause it's so small, but you could have two I suppose if you wanted to spend the money. I'm sure the guys at NR would appreciate it.)
    3. Keep a "clean" copy on your laptop, or 2nd computer. In other words, no folders, no files, no extra crap you really don't need on your mobile receipt scanning station.
    4. Scan using your laptop when you're at work/on the road and save all files in a few main folders, such as
      -Arpil 2007 Receipts
    5. Assign them categories that will help you easily identify them at home, such as
      -Personal
      -Business
      -Other
    6. When you're done for the week, month, whatever, export the one folder from your laptop to your desktop as a NRX file. (using the Export feature on your Mobile PC and the Import feature on your Master PC.)
    7. Once you've imported the mobile files into your master folder, cut and paste the receipts into their proper categories.

I do this primarily because I love the robustness of the platform, but I absolutely hate to load that 1.5 GB database on my laptop every time I want to scan a receipt. When I come home on the weekends from work, I just export them into my main copy, run the compression utility again to keep it small, and go about my happy day.

    Hope this helps...
