Here is some of the reasons I think Neatreceipts is worth the money:
The ability to scan the receipts in whatever order (date) and payment type into the database and then later on sort the receipts by date, category (personal or business expense), and payment type (cash, VISA, etc).
The ability to export the receipts to Quicken, it is not an absolute clean process but it can be done via an excel export and script provided on this forum.
Storing your important receipts in a digital format. I use to save photo copies of my expense report receipts in my file cabinet. Now I just keep the copies in Neatreceipts, thus saving a lot of room in my filing cabinet.
>2. What do you do about showing your auditor recietps?
I have not had to show any reciepts to any auditor but as I have read in these forums the IRS now accepts scanned receipts as proof of documentation of expenses. Maybe someone else can comment further.
Overall, I think Neatreceipts is a great product for organizing receipts and I am still using ver 2.75.
