Hi,   has anyone else got issues with file size of scanned documents produced by the neatworks for Mac 2.1.9.   I'm moving from an old canon N670U flatbed that was capable of producing 200dpi images with OCR, a typical document size was under 100k. but I was getting sick of lifting the lid,  I've scanned all my documents since 2002 using this scanner and a folder structure,  spotlight search and Quickview.

I've recently felt the need to upgrade my scanner and after reading many favourable reviews of the neat receipts software I purchased the Fujitsu ScanSnap S300M,and neatreceipts (primarily for organising and OCR) here are my problems some compatibility issues with the Fujitsu S300m driver and snow leopard the scanSnap has a minimum scan is 300dpi results in slightly larger file sizes and on the Mac offers NO OCR.    Upon purchasing Neatworks I thought my problems would go away however the same file (My Council Rates notice) scanned to my desktop directly from the scanner is 266kb when I scan it to Neatworks and perform OCR on it,  it comes out at a whopping 1.8mb has Neatworks got a reputation for blowing out the size of scans, at this point in time I don't want to even think about how fast my hardrive will fill using this software

 Can anyone give me their insights ?

Yes this is a problem for myself as well.  There are other post in this forum stating this problem.  I haven't seen a solution yet.  I have just turned a blind eye on this, hoping the developers at Neat are working on a solution.

OK so that's at least two of us with this problem,  Perhaps don't hold out to long for a solution as I sent support screenshots / examples. and after 4 days they asked for more details,   its seams they know nothing about this issue,  I was trying more examples last night with a two page bank statement,  

canoscan toolbox = 82kb with ocr

Fujitsu scansnap = 186kb no ocr

Neatreceipts via scansnap firth pages ocr = 888kb

I'm considering seeking a refund at this stage as I can't see an easy fix. 

 

Eh... they should know something.  There are tons of post by people voicing concern over the pdf sizes, and then there are other posts by people concerned about the overall massive library size neat has.  Mine's around 1.6 GB.  That's with only 2 years worth of scanning (or whenever the pre-release came out).  I suppose 1.6 GB isn't that large when compared to todays typical HDD space, but it seems unnecessary.  Especially when we're talking about predominately small receipts scanned in B/W.
