    Will the windows software work with Windows 7?

    Hi,

    Only version 4.0 SP3A is currently compatible with Windows 7.  Previous versions of the NeatWorks software are not supported on Windows 7.

    It does work with W7, but you are unable to calibrate your scanner.  You have to download a file and place it in the "Public Documents" folder to get the scanner to work.

    I had it working with 64-bit Vista. After the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, all I get is a message "The Neat Mobile Scanner Failed." I've done the part with the Public files. Nothing seems to work.

    It really doesn't matter at this point if you put the file in the "Public Documents" folder or not, the scanner won't scan correctly as it crops the image and the image is lousy.....I hope Neat Company comes up with a way to be able to actually calibrate the scanner with Windows 7.

    I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) and Neat Works v4 sp3 (4.6.2_152).  Before I upgraded my OS from Vista Ultimate SP1 (x64) my Neat Works software was performing as expected.  Now however, whenever I attempt to scan I receive the error "The Neat Mobile failed to scan."  I have see that this error was reported in an earlier post, but have not seen a post detailing the fix or when a fix would be available.

    Here is the response I received from the support team...

     

    Instructions to Migrate NeatWorks Data from Version 4 SP3(v4.6) to Version

    4 SP3A (v4.7)

     

    Backup up your current NeatWorks database by going to theTools menu and choosing Database

    > Backup. Save your backed up data in a safe location.

     

    Once you’ve created a backup file, follow these steps toprepare your data for migration to Version 4 SP3A:

     

    1) File any items currently shown in your inbox.

    2) Open the Receipt Organizer and click the Show All textin the upper right to make sure that all of your folders are visible.

    3) Select one or more folders in the folder grid. You canselect multiple rows by holding down the Shift or Control key as you click oneach row.

    4) Right-click your mouse on the folders you have selectedand choose Export To > NeatReceipts Folder File. Try not to export more thana few hundred receipts at once, or the export process may take an unusuallylong time. The export routine will ask you to supply a location for yourexported data; we recommend using a folder on your Desktop or in My Documents.The export routine will also ask you if you would like to compress yourfolders. You should choose NOT to compress the files. Repeat this step untilall of your folders have been exported.

    5) Open the Document Organizer and repeat the stepslisted above.

    6) Open the Contact Organizer, select up to 200 contactsusing the Shift key, and export them as well. Remember NOT to compress thefiles.

    Once you have completed the contact export, your data isprepared to migrate to Version 4 SP3A. Before doing so, you must remove Version4 SP3 (v4.6). To do this, follow these steps:

    1) Unplug your scanner

    2) Right-click on the Quick Scan icon in your system trayand exit it.

    3) Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.Uninstall the following:

    a. NeatWorks

    b. Neat Mobile Scanner 2008

    c.Neat ADF Scanner

    d. Neat Mobile Scanner

    e. Neat Mobile Scanner (Silver)

    Once those have been removed, reboot your PC and downloadVersion 4 SP3A here:

     http://download1.neatreceipts.com/NeatWorksv4.7.7FULL.exe

     Install Version 4 SP3A, and then migrate your data in bylaunching the application, going to each

    organizer and choosing the Import option. Import eachfolder or contact file that you have

    created, and you will see all of your information in thenew application.

    My scanner also worked fine with 64-bit Vista.  I recently upgraded to 64-bit Windows 7.  Now, I am also continuously getting the message "The Neat Mobile Scanner Failed".  After several online and telephone troubleshooting sessions, the Neatworks people sent another identical scanner on the theory that mine was somehow defective.  The new scanner, which arrived  today, produces exactly the same error message every time.  I've tried a couple of times to change/reinstall the drivers, but nothing helps.  At this point, I am firmly convinced that the furnished drivers are not compatible with 64-bit Windows 7, and I hope the company is working to resolve this problem.  It may just be that a registry entry needs to be changed.  The Neatworks software is very useful, but not when the scanner cannot be used.

    I too have a problem with the software and Windows 7 64 bit. I have multiple computers and the scanner and software (NeatWorks Version 4 SP3A (4.7.7_57) ) works just fine on my netbook running Windows XP but not on Windows 7.

    Under WIndows 7 the program  is unable to calibrate the scanner.

    Hopefullt there will be a software update to address this in the near future.
