Image quality on B&W Scan extremely poor after analysis

Have been using Neatworks for about a little over a year, since it was originally NeatReceipts for Mac.

I have noticed that recently, with the later releases, that the quality of the image after scanning and analysis is extremely poor.  The contrast algorithm applied is so extreme that it "corrodes" the text in the document to such an extent that you have to zoom in quite extensively to be able to read the document with any legibility. The bigger problem though is that if you don't use the analysis then Neatworks does not apply and autofill your info.  But if you do use the analysis, you end up with quite a degraded image that is almost unusable for archiving...

I have checked around, but it seems there is no way to control or adjust the severity or extremety of the application of the analysis algorithm so that the applied contrast settings are not applied so extreme as to degrade the image.  To counter this, I have also tried setting the quality of the scans to as high as possible with no change in the ultimate quality.  I have also extensively cleaned the scanner with the cleaning kit and calibrated it several times... No luck...

To reiterate, the scans look fine before the analysis.  It is the analysis that kills them.  They look like they were run through a washer or acid washed after the analysis.

My only solution so far is to scan in only color (even B&W receipts) and not analyze no matter what type of document it is (all documents suffer from the same degradation described)

As a side note I have also noticed that the automatic cropping works poorly unless you scan the receipt in at the extreme edge of the scanner.  While this is not necessarily a problem, requiring such extreme precision in document placement in the scanner for proper application of the cropping algorithm should not be required...

I also went back to my earlier receipts and noticed that they all were in Grayscale and excellent quality while the current software seems to only scan in Black and White and turn the document into black and white completely with no grayscale...  My old receipts and scans done in the earlier versions look great and have all the proper information, so long as I don't reanalyze them....

Something has gone wrong here. The quality is supposed to get better with later releases, not worse..

Sorry for the extensive post, or repetition.  I hope some guidance can be supplied.  I like the product a lot and want to continue to use it.  But if this doesn't improve then I don't think I can continue to use Neatworks anymore.

    Thank you
