    Re: Fields and data entry

Please add my vote to fixing the issue with fields. I heard about this product on TechGuyLabs or Macbreak and they were very complimentary. I am disappointed with the quality of the software. It is a good start however and I sincerely hope Neat gives us some major upgrades in the near future otherwise I will be looking elsewhere. has anyone used the PC version and is it the same standard as the Mac version?

    Re: Fields and data entry

I just started another item that mentions this as well, so add my vote - though Juljon - I don't see this as a "I'll use other software" issue.

What do you all think about the notion of being able to tab from field to field in the tab view - that would also reduce a lot of data entry time for me!

    Re: Fields and data entry

Indeed, the whole user-interface and the software related is garbage. The hardware seems to be high quality but the VERY poor software makes the product close to unusable.

My 10 year old Visionaire Scanner (no Mac software ability) is perfection compared to this miss. It simply scanned a document to the screen, did not require you to name the document to save the scanned document, allowed you to save the document to many different types, provided many document adjustments and editing directly on the "desktop" where the scanned documents are seen etc.  You may argue that this software can do all of those things but to accomplish any of those functions is time consuming and not reliable. Also, this software application OFTEN crashes my Mac, the crashing was the main reason abandoned the Windows OS.

My gamble is that the software application will be replaced or fixed for use with the fine hardware.

    Cheers

    Re: Fields and data entry

Just purchased NeatReceipts for Mac and tried a new scanning. This was the first problem that I encountered and it was quite a frustrating surprise. It feels stupid to send all those fields to my accountant, I need to configure fields language to Swedish (this worked), but removing fields didn't. This looks like a Alpha Test bug more than something that would exist in a real release.

Please Neat, have this fixed ASAP.

Yes, I just upgraded to 2.1.5 for Mac and the fields issue has not been fixed.  Very annoying because I like pretty much everything else.

Neat, please work on this issue!

    Re: Fields and data entry

    Hello All, especially NeatCo!

Having spent $200 on the scanner and the software I must add my voice to this list of disappointment. The scanner is smart and solid, I purchased the portable as I travel a lot.

This inability to delete/modify/organise fields is basically a deal breaker. I wanted to use this for biz card scanning as well a receipts and docs, the card scanner is hit & miss at best in its OCR ability from biz cards, but the fact that so many fields remain in the list and cannot be altered is a killer. What makes it worse, when the scanned card is dropped into address book it creates all the "unused" fields in the address pane.... duh!

I further don't understand why there is an item to allow apparent removal & creation of fields but it does not work. I tried this option under the edit menu but after you press remove and choose delete from the pop up warning box nothing happens!!

It is frankly faster to enter the info to address book directly.

Can anyone tell me how I can return this product and get my money back?

    Re: Fields and data entry

I got a forum account just to add my voice to this issue.

This seems like an issue that should never have been an issue. It seems obvious enough not to overload an interface with mandatory fields, so I'm baffled by the sloppiness. Maybe it is taking so long to change because the original implementation was poor, who knows? But it's something you need to jump on. Having to pass through so many fields slows down data entry significantly, and it's not like this is an edge-case, the core utility of the hardware and app is getting data in accurately and quickly. And quickly is broken!

With each update I cross my fingers and hope to see this fix. But still nothing. Unfortunately all I can do is complain and cross my fingers. You guys can actually do something about it; so, when?

    Re: Fields and data entry

I also just joined the forum to add my voice to this thread.  I am now going to look for threads on fixing skewed scans and using the list of existing vendors and credit cards to do better character recognition for receipts.

    Solution is Receipt Wallet

For me, this plus the inability to automatically create expense reports ina time range (eg 5/5/09-5/12/09) are deal breakers for me.  Unfortunatelly, I already made the deal.  Looks like I will be going back to Receipt Wallet (Now called Paperless) which has these features and is a much superior software product.  I thought I was upgrading for something with more features, but in fact is has far far fewer.

    Re: Fields and data entry

I also would like to add my vote for this issue to be addressed.  Also, I'm not sure if this would be related or not, but is there a way to apply a template of field locations to be used with many instances of a standard form where only a few fields vary sheet to sheet?
