I justed wanted to report a potential issue with the recently released v.4.1.1 update (which includes 64-bit compatibility). I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium.
I encountered an error while trying to install the NeatWorks v4.1.1 update (v4.0.8 was previously installed). Part way through the install I received a message saying that the installer encountered an error and could not continue and that it would revert back to the previous version. After the installer had quit, I had to restart the computer in order to get NeatWorks to run (I'm assuming the installer had turned off some of the services and when the error was encountered those services weren't automatically restarted). However, instead of seeing v4.0.8 on the splashscreen Version 4 SP1 showed up instead. Once the program finished loading I could confirm that v4.1.1 (via checking under Help -> About NeatWorks) was showing up as the installed version. Although the data appeared to be fine in the tables I was encountering an error message everytime I clicked on any receipt and the images of the scanned receipts weren't showing up in the left pane.
I was unable to rerun the update to try and complete and/or repair the install since it detected that v4.1.1 was already installed. I had to completely uninstall NeatWorks and restart the computer. When I went to execute the NW v4.0.8 full install it prompted me to check for any updates, at which time it found an update for v4.1.1, and I was able to download the full install for v4.1.1 (instead of the update only file).
After installing the full version of v4.1.1 and restoring my previous v4.0.8 backup everything appears to be working correctly ... so far!
Just a word to the wise, make sure you backup your data prior to updating the software. Fortunately, I did backup my data prior to upgrading because when I unistalled the broken install all previous data was lost.
Did anyone else have a similiar and unfortunate experience?
