Scanner software enhancement suggestion: automatic vertical alignment adjustment

    I am using NeatWorks v4 sp3.

When I  scan documents, frequently the documents feed through the scanner at a slight angle.  The resulting image is slightly skewed and has black borders.  (Although this is the first sheetfeed scanner I have used, I assume that this issue would be common to all sheetfeed scanners regardless of brand.)

A nice software enhancement feature would be to automatically align the image based on a straight more-or-less vertical edge and then re-autocrop the image to get rid of the black border.  (This function would operate transparently (to the user) much like the existing auto-crop functionality, except  this feature should probably be configurable (Tools/Personalize) so that it could be turned off if a user was scanning "ragged edged" documents.)  [Google's Picasa 3 is example of a program that allows small-angle image adjustments.]

I hope this idea is helpful.

I would second this idea, but with a slight change to the method of alignment.  I do like the way the software auto-rotates to get the text straight (not the edges), but I also like the idea of cropping out the black.  Please give us the option of autocropping inside of the triangular black edges, instead of outside.
