I use the Neatworks for Mac 2.1.4 with Neat ADF scanner, mainly for scanning documents to email or efax. A one page document scanned directly to PDF at the 'lowest export quality' per the preference setting returns with 400KB!!! It was still >250KB after compressing the file. A file like this usually takes up the most 50KB to 80KB when received through efax or email in PDF form!!!

Anyone has any idea how we can further adjust down the file size in Neatworks? My scans are set to B & W, Quick processing - Image Only, single sided, Direct to PDF.

With the amount of paperwork I need to keep digitally, hard drive space will run out in no time! Please Help. Thx in advance.

Looks like I am not the only one who takes issue with the file sizes...

Yeah, it's a problem for scanning in BW and then trying to email as well.

I have found that when scanning in the BW setting doesn't actually scan in BW- or something weird is going on- the only thing that I find that helps is:

scan in your doc

then, page by page, you have to go through your doc in the Inspector, click on the "Edit Image" and finally "convert to bw".

Save and close.

that reduces file size quite a bit (by a factor of 3), but never to the <100K range...
