I'm curious if anyone else's NeatWorks for Mac opens slowly.  When I click on the icon it takes probably all of a minute for the window to actually show. Also when I am navigating between the inbox, documents and receipts folders it has a small lag of 10 seconds or so to actually update and show the contents of the folder.  

I am running NW on a 1.6 Macbook Air with the 2GB RAM.  

If you are not having any lag issues please share what system you are running NW on.

I upgraded my NeatWorks for Mac software to 2.0.1 today, and I agree that it's MUCH slower than the prior version.  Not good.  :-(

Yes, 2.0.1 is slow and very buggy, especially when I try to access the address book data (only 919 contacts). Its crashed on me several times on two different machines when doing so. I sent Neat a crash log last week, never heard back. I think a bit more beta testing was necessary.

Slow for me too. Using 1.83 GHz iMac Intel. I have set the program aside for the time being-- too slow to use. And the scroll arrows to the right of the scanned image don't work (though I can scroll by dragging the blue blob). And it takes forever to launch. And the database either wouldn't open, or opened offscreen, so I couldn't see any of my scanned items. Sure looked cool at Macworld Expo but it's not nearly so nice here.

Thanks for the feedback and the patience from all of you who are experiencing problems or frustrations with the new Mac release.  2.0 adds a lot of new features and capabilities from our 1.1 Advance Release, and some of these may be responsible for sluggishness under certain circumstances.  We've identified a few subtle problem areas since our 2.0.1 release last week, and have another release almost ready to go that should help stabilize and hopefully speed up some of the parallel processing and PPC/10.4 issues that some users have experienced, but please keep us informed of any issues, as your feedback and suggestions are invaluable.
 
Andrew, the crash logs are being analyzed, but if you're looking for direct response, crash logs collect on our server for analysis but are not ordinarily replied to, if you need a reply we suggest contacting support or selecting "Send Bug Report or Feedback" from the Help menu in NeatWorks (er, and avoid using the "&" character in your reports for now).  I should also mention that while you say you have "only" 919 contacts, we consider that a fairly large number, and expect that most of you experiencing sluggishness also have larger than average address books.  We're working on improving the speed and perhaps adding an option to turn off Address Book integration, but in the meantime you may prefer using NeatWorks in a seperate user account that has fewer or no contacts in the Address Book as a workaround.  Apologies for any confusion on these issues, and we look forward to helping you!
 
Also, although we tested upgrading libraries from 1.1.5 to 2.0.1, for some problems creating a new library helps solve some peculiar behavior and performance issues.  Support can help you with this, and with managing files between libraries as necessary.   Thanks!

I have 1300 contacts and it takes a long time for Neatworks to get going. If you are parsing each address entry as opposed to caching and updating, then I suppose that explains the sluggishness. There must be a better way to access and modify the address book data than this.

I am also having an issue with business card data that was captured and edited in NR. Once it is brought in the address book, I notice the unused address fields are not editable once in address book. Example- I move an addy card over that has no name, just a business. If I want to add a name later in Address Book, I can't the field is missin. Wierd.

The decond issue with AB intergration appears in lank address fields containing a space. This makes all the imported address cards have a strange spacing and printing appearance.

Anyone else notice this?

I do have to point out that the accuracy of the OCR is quite good. Thanks for the support! 

Yes I get the issue with spaces in blank fields for records that are added to my Address Book by NR. I'm trying to find a way to stop this happening - any ideas?

This app still opens very slowly for me, in the range of 1 to 1.5 minutes from when I click the doc icon.  

Once open it navigates well, hardly any hesitation at all.  Thanks for getting that worked out Neat Co.  

It's still pretty frustrating to have to wait such a long time for the program to open up.  Anybody else having such a long wait time on opening NWorks?

I have the same problem with V 2.1.6. I have only about 300 scaned Documents but it take more than a Minute for the application to open.

Also scanning and OCR are very very slow and unreliable. 

in my 2.8 Ghz MacBook Pro it takes one minute and 20 seconds for Neatworks to launch and become responsive. It takes forever!

Anouther Snow Leopard user with major speed and stability issues with this software.  I am growing tired of the constant crashes and crash reports.

 

Strange that Neat thinks 900 contacts is a lot.  Anyone that pays ~$200 for this software and scanner most likely has a lot of contacts!

 The only crude workraound is to have separate "working" libraries that don't have the address book items in them for everyday scanning, then add them as necessary to other libraries.

I'm running NeatWorks for Mac 2.1.9 (219005) on a Mac with Snow Leopard (10.6.1)

I'm having the same issues with very slow startup of this program.

Additionally, I'm having issues with a delayed sleep. It takes thirty seconds for my computer to get to sleep. I checked pmset -g log in the Terminal and found that there's one process which is universally slow: neat mobile scan.

Here's a typical readout:

Is there going to be some fix for this? Should I reinstall or uninstall some program? It surprises me that many days have gone by without any response from management about this general issue.

I am also (trying) to run Neatworks on  my Mac . I recently added Snow Leopard and have tried twice to update the software for Neatworks for Mac 2.1.9 (219005) and I can't get the scanner to work at all.  It doesn't even make the effort to scan a document. Worked great prior to all the software updates.

In all kindness, paying this much for a product in a modern computer market with such blatant software inefficiency quickly makes your customer base disillusioned.  You are doing business in a computer world (esp. MAC) where we expect our software to work when we drop this much cash.  

 It is clear from the user group of what the problem is.  Fix it.  Otherwise it becomes a pointless viral battle of your product marketing team vs. our online dissatisfaction.  The viral customer always wins.

So, please, stop our frustrations with solutions and not future promises.  This is a great product with a great concept.  Now, make it work.

Well, I was just about to buy Neatworks for Mac for use with my existing scanner, but this thread has now put me off from pulling the trigger.  Experience says that, often, the ones making the most noise represent the small minority of customer who have a problem...so maybe things are not as bad as they appear?  Just don't want to buy something designed to improve my productivity only to end up even more frustrated...  So still on the fence.
