Version 4.7.7 does not work with Windows 7

I was given instructions on how upgrade to 4.7.7 by support at Neat Co. I have Windows 7 and followed the instruction on how to upgrade to the latest version. One little problem.....after uninstalling my old version and installing 4.7.7, everything I try to open Neatworks I get an error message>

"Neatworks cannot access the Neatworks database in c:\programdata\The Neat Company\Neatworks\database.

If the error continues, please call customer support to resolve this problem"

I have sent several message to customer support, but they do not respond. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work again? I am running SQL 2005 on my machine, but that didnt stop me from running 4.0 sp3. I am not sure if its confused about having SQL on the machine or not. I was NOT using SQL 2005 as the database for the prior version of Neatworks.

Any help would be great.......wish this was better supported.

Please, please look into an international version. I use it with different folders for different currencies but the folders show my local currency and US Dollars. Of courst the report section is no good to us international customers.

The only way round it is to export into Excel then change the currencies.

Do love it though, it has made filing expenses a pleasure (I never thought I would say that!).

Hi all,

Well, I am in a bit of a predicament, and hoping there's someone out there that can assist. I was running Neatworks 4 (the .exe shows a version of 4.5.288) on a laptop that was running Windows Vista x64. During that time, I had made one backup, but had since made significant additions to my receipts. During that time, I had thankfully created an image using OO DiskImage. Unfortunately, this image will not boot once restored, however, I am able to mount the drive so I can see my drive as it was before the crash. I had not performed a dB backup within neatworks, obviously the easy method of restoring my database is not available, especially since I can't get the image to boot in order to run the dB backup utility.

So, how can I migrate my data from the image (mounted as an external disk)? Is there a way, either using the SQL Express that is installed with NW, or via a full instance of SQL server, to get the data restored? I have access to SQL expertise that may be able assist me if it's more complicated than I expect. I have hundreds of hours invested in these receipts and I don't want to have to re-live the nightmare I experienced when I had to start from scratch when NR went from ver 3 to ver 4.

Please help! TIA!!!

I have just upgraded to windows 7. And install the 4.7.7 software for neat works. I have issue with calibrating. After reading forums I have found the file that i have to download to skip the scanner calibrating. Which it did and I tryied scaning document but it will not feed any paper it will not feed the document that I am trying to scan. If you guys can help it would be grate.

Feature Request: Allow user to format expense report

It would be great if I could choose what fields are included in the expense report. Right now, the form includes fields I do not need, which creates an issue where it does NOT include the fields I do need. I need the "notes" field to be included in my expense reports- as it works now the notes are crowded out and either included only partially or not at all. Yet, the expense report includes all kinds of data fields that I don't need and leave blank. If I could choose what fields to show in the expense report, I wouldn't have this problem.

And I don't know if it's a bug or what - but it's odd that the notes field is sometimes included, sometimes cut off mid sentence (and my notes are by no means long) and other times the note field is not included at all.

Neat Desk for Mac locks up

Hi,

OSX 10.6, latest Neat Desk arrived at my door.. from UPS... paid $400... installed Neat and now, find out that it locks up the iMac so bad you have to re-boot. What a joke... I will wait a few days for a response... none comes, no fixes... tada... back to the MFG for a complete refund.

Scenario #1... scan something that does not get picked up by the rollers... both SCAN and PDF lights start to flash green... and nothing will bring the Neat s/w service back to earth...except a reboot...

Scenario #2: try and use the test option: menu Preferences->Scanning->Diagnostics...all squares light up green... yay... and then try option Test Scan...Test Scan.... Boomf... she locks up.... spinny thing shows... till you kill the process or reboot..

Nice try... pretty plastic box that seemingly can work... waiting for the proof of that...

Problem with Neatworks working with ScanSnap Scanner

I just purchased Neatworks to run with my S300M Fujifilm Scanner. I am running Mac OSX 10.6

The settings in Scan Snap do not allow me to link to the Neatworks program.

I have tried downloading the latest drivers but that did not change the issue.

Using Smart Collections

I have used NetReceipts (and now NeatWorks) for Mac since it was first available as a product. I am making an effort to use a Smart Collection to flag all unpaid but reimbursable items. So far, I haven't figured out how to do this. I can do one or the other, but not both, and I cannot edit the Smart Collection parameters, either, as far as I can tell.

I'm using Networks Version 2.1.9 (219005). Any help?

Bug: Neatworks quick scan hangs on hibernate

If hibernating the computer with Neatworks quick scan running and scanner connected, quick scan hangs if the scanner is not available when the comptuer returns from hibernation. Reconnecting the scanner wakes the application back to life.

Instead of turning unresponsive, the application should simply detect that the scanner is gone.

Feature Request: Expense Report Formatting

I would like the ability to have a little more control over report formatting, such as changing the header contents, and adjusting the line spacing. I would also like the ability to have a little more control over Receipt Captions, such as association with other columns in the row the receipt corresponds to and abililty to add custom text (like an item number from another expense report using the same receipts).

The reason for this last request is that often as a subcontractor, we are asked to provide expense reports to more than one entity. Different entities sometimes have different reporting requirements - or, more often, its nice to help the person tallying the receipts by providing details under them.

e.g. Instead of "Receipt #2" I'd like the caption to read "Line 2 Hertz 11/12/09 $328.26 ExpID#001288" - where the first four are columns in NeatWorks, and the last is a custom entry (perhaps a custom column in the report), that corresponds to another expense report.

4.7.7 troubles

I installed version 4.7.7 after a fresh format onto my Windows 7 (64 bit) machine. The scanner fails during the calibration phase. When I click on "Calibrate", the scanner pulls about half of the calibration card in, then the light next to the "SCAN" button on the scanner starts blinking and the calibration stops. The software displays "Calibration In Progress" and never registers any sort of error. Exiting the Neat Works software does not stop the blinking of the scanner light and the only way to get it to respond again is to reboot the pc. After rebooting, it does the same thing. Has anyone run into such an issue? Are there known issues with Neat Works and Windows 7 64 bit?

restore without backup?

Hello,

I had a total computer failure (vista 32 bit laptop) and am unable to boot from that computer's old hard disk which has all my neat receipts data.

I have a backup, but lost about two weeks worth of scanning work since the prior backup.

Is there any way to get that lost data back?

My new computer is running vista 64 and I have upgraded to version 4.0 of NeatWorks.

I still have the old hard disk and I can see all the neat receipts program files in there, is there anyway to recover the data from them?

Pasting/Dragging copy into the "notes" form field is broken

Pasting or dragging single and/or multiple lines of OCR text into the 'notes' form field is 'broken'.

When I select a line of OCR text and either drag or copy/paste into any other form field it comes in using a legible/default font - looks like lucida grande.

When I copy and paste and/or drag a single or multiple lines of text (from a document/receipt or business card) into the 'notes' form field the text comes in using the 'monaco' font. Sometimes it's completely illegible (7-8 pts and aliased) or sometimes it comes in in 2 font sizes of monaco?

I then have to select the text in this 'notes' area and re-format it so it is legible and consistent.

Can you please fix this?

Please, as your GUI and built-in help indicate - please make the fields customizable. This feature is currently broken on the mac.

Deleting Unused Receipt Fields

How do I get rid of all of the receipt fields like "transaction ID" ; "GST/HST" etc. that I don't want or need?

I went through the drill of clicking on the little triangles to get the "master list" but everything is grayed out so I can't deselect. Then if I go to the master fields list and then to create or modify fields i go through the drill...and nothing happens!!! What gives?

Any ideas how to customize the fields 'cause the intuitive path ain't working.

NeatWorks 4.7.7_57 (Non-Upgrade) and Neat ADF on Win 7 x64 Results (It Works Fine)

I just wanted to share the information I learned from installing NeatWorks 4.7.7_57 including the Neat ADF drivers on Windows 7 64-bit edition.

First off, as of 9/11/09 Neat is not officially supporting Windows 7 per the support number. That was not unexpected to me as Windows 7 isn't supposed to be released until 10/22 anyway. They were friendly in fielding my questions based on what they did know about Win 7.

I am not upgrading a database but starting fresh so the 4.7.7_57 version was not a problem. Also, I learned that 4.7.7_57 has the 32 and 64 bit drivers in it already and there is no separate download for 64 bit. To get this version, however, I downloaded the earlier version from the Vista 64bit link and then got 4.7.7_57 from the "Check for Updates" button in the installer.

Everything installed correctly and the scanner works fine.

Just thought I'd share the info for anyone in a similar situation.

Neatworks won't install

Trying to install Neatworks on Vista 64. Newest version, just rec'd it a few days ago, and it will not install. Keeps locking up my computer and I have to uinstall and try to reinstall - same thing all the time. I never get the window to enter the product code, but found a way to access this tru programs. Any suggestions. REALLY frustrating! Support - no one comes on to the live chat and I was 27 in the phone Que.

When viewing document images in the Receipts/Business Cards/Documents views, doubleclicking the image should switch the view to full screen.

Clicking once should skip to the next image in the set (if any)
