    quickscan settings not remembered on shutdown ..... Neatco has terrible customer support

    I submitted the following quesion to Neatco customer support:

    "The settings in quick scan (such as Blank page removal) are not restored on startup and I have to manually reset them every time. "

     This is the response I got:

    "The quick scan center closes when your computer reboots (restarts), along with every other application on your computer. When you restart the computer and reopen the Quick Scan Center, you will have to input any scanning preferences you wish to utilize (Document Type, Scan Options, Advanced Settings). Again, minimizing the Quick Scan Center will not change any of these settings; they will only restore to default settings after the quick scan center is closed. "

     Either this support person has no idea what they are talking about, or this software is garbage. What kind of professional software doesn't remember its settings automatically on shutdown? I am seriously dissapointed and regret buying it.

     Does anyone else have this problem.

    We are both in agreement that it would be nice to save the Quickscan settings from reboot to reboot. As a software tester I would consider this a pri 1 bug.  If the customers don't provide feedback it will tend to drop in priority.  This fix would be a nice improvement to the product and it should be a pretty easy fix. 

    I would like to suggest that you send in product feedback.  If Neatco has enough customers that are requesting the same fix it will become a bigger priority.  In the past I have seen Neatco add features based on feedback.  I submited my request several months ago and I have not seen anyone else ask for the same feature.  If everyone submits a request we have a much better chance to get this fixed.

    I have been using the product since it was first released.  I think it is a great product and Neatco continues to update the software.  This is a good sign.  As customers we just need to let them know what we need and want.

     The response that customer service gave is correct.  We just need to let them know this is not a feature.. it is a bug.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the feedback.

    NeatWorks 5.0 will include persistent scan settings when it is released.  This feature is, as Shadowcomp mentioned, entirely driven by customer requests.

    I for one will not upgrade to version 5 unless it is free. I want a piece of software they will work with any good commercial scanner, not this piece of junk they call a scanner.

    Why call it a piece of junk? Well if I feed 5 receipts without fail 2 will wrap arounf the feed wheel and there is NO WAY to get the paper out og the drive wheel. 

    As soon as I find a good OCR software package I trashing this system.

    Odd, I haven't had this problem. I regularly feed pages ranging from 8-1/2x14 to itty bitty stubs from restaurant checks, and haven't had a jam. Of course you gotta put the little stuff so the wheel will catch it. Perhaps you got a defective or damaged scanner? Are we taling about the little portable scanner or something else?
