I assume you wrote NeatReceipts in .NET.  If so, you should have a look at mono-project.com.  It may solve all your Mac porting issues--and might make a port quicker to produce than you anticipated.  One approach you might take on the hardware side is to release an interim build that would support some scanner such as a TravelPro 600 (that already has a Mac TWAIN driver).  That way, those of us who are trying to document platform diversity in the wake of Vista would be able to help you test your product.

Just for your information, I am an academic chief technologist at a major University.  We. are seeing trends upwards of 50% attrition away from Microsoft this year.  Our student, before, have been encouraged to get a Windows platform.  This year, we've officially blessed full support on the Mac platform, and over half the new purchases are Macs.  We're seeing the same thing in industry as well.

 

Is there a current release date scheduled for support of 64 bit Vista? I'm a technet user running Vista x64 but I really enjoy using neat receipts when I travel out of the country. It's been a life saver for the last year for me, but I really need 64 bit support. Any ETA on that?

As a interim solution, has anyone successfully installed it on a 64 bit OS using the program compatibility features? They're really upgraded in Vista, but I'm hesitatnt to try it. Getting neat receipts ON a computer is easy, but getting it back off when it screws up can be a real nightmare.

Anyone done this successfully?

Ok Ok Ok. I hope you're happy! lol (just kidding)

 After spending a year traveling overseas and becoming completely dependent on NR for my life to be able to continue, I decided for reformat my already-reformatted Vista OS and replace the 64 bit version with the regular 32 bit version. So.. I've done my part.. now when I can I get my update?..... c'mon you guys. This program is great, but we need an update here. I'm as compliant as compliant can be.. your turn.

PS: Anyone been able to get that scanner to work on Vista as a stand-alone unit yet? I've tried even installing the Plustek drivers for it, but haven't had any luck.

Thanks again for a great program... really.. now just get us the update... I need my NR fix.. it's like heroin. You should start a support program for NR addicts... wait.. that would be "NRA?" Hmm...

I just got my NR  to work with Vista 32 bit and I thought of sharing the info here.

Below are 6 easy steps to get NR to work on vista.

 

Enter NR Cd in the Cd rom, close the autorun when it comes up than follow the below info

Go to my computer and right click on the NR CD
 

 

 

I did not Calibrate the scanner, not sure how that works  

If you want to get the latest update you will need to do the same thing with the update file you download form NR site.

The latest beta release does not require these steps for installation on vista. (The beta is not an upgrade, it's a full release.)

 

As for not calibrating, it won't kill you, but you might run into times where it doesn't correctly identify edges of a receipt and chop off the black space. (Among other things.)

I find this incredibly frustrating.  I just bought a new machine and your scanner at Costco, only to return to thte home office and discover that you don't support the machine.  It's being returned tomorrow (the scanner that is)...
